Dr. Rebecca Kass, MD

My name is Rebecca Kass, and my path to psychiatry was unconventional. Raised in St. Petersburg, Florida, I graduated as the valedictorian of my high school and went on to earn a degree in creative writing, music and pre-medical studies from Eckerd College. After questioning Western medicine’s narrow lens of health, I spent a gap year in India studying yoga and managing a blog. While helping others find peace through yoga, I realized I wanted to become a doctor to make a broader impact. Newly motivated, I scored in the 99th percentile on the medical admission test (MCAT) and earned a merit-based scholarship to the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine.

During medical school, I pursued an integrative medical education. I published copious research on interventions such as nature exposure and yogic breathing. This work earned me induction into the Research Honor Society and recognition as the Departmental Scholar of Distinction in Psychiatry. For psychiatric residency, I attended the University of New Mexico, known for its pioneering work in psychedelic and integrative psychiatry. I completed a Certificate in Integrative Psychiatry from the University of Arizona and earned the Rosenbaum Research Grant for my study of MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for postpartum people with opiate use disorder.

Since residency, I’ve practiced as an outpatient psychiatrist in Boulder, Colorado. Recently, I completed the Certificate in Nutritional Psychiatry and expanded my expertise in ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and psychedelic integration. My journey has been shaped by diverse influences, and I remain dedicated to supporting individuals to harness their natural healing potential.
